Silvers by howlinghorse Silvers by howlinghorse
Ho hum, another doodle. Couldn’t help it. Well these are silver brumbies sort of in honour of the time when I was little and I liked to imagine ‘silver’ as METALLIC silver… kind of still do really. I definitely don’t see them palomino, but a sort of pure-white to pale grey. Sort of based on that chapter in the first book with the profile of Golden’s head at the beginning of it… I loved that illustration! I think it finds its way into every profile I draw!

will start doing some of the art work I actually NEED to do, soon. College is over :O well, in about 4 hours... but I've finished everything anyways.

thank you! :) It was definitely a step back into the comfort zone with the greyscale only I think the anatomy lost out a lot ...

(Btw- the artist portrait is finished, I've done it digitally though. (I WAS going to do a pencil piece but just couldn't for no logical reason. Every time I started, it turned into something else) and so I haven't got a photo of me with it yet. (Been experimenting with the laptop screen but I'm going to print it out too) Phew, anyway, that's what's going on with it, so, yes, I did finish it but haven't got the photo yet. *considers uploading it anyway* What was going on with the brackets? I think we're still in one... oh well)

You're very welcome! :) Oh that is awesome news! Can't wait to see it. :D Go ahead and upload it! I want to put it up. :D I'll give you more time on the photo. :) Printing it out and taking a picture in front of it will work just fine. If you can, make sure we see both your face and detail of your drawing. :) Digital is absolutely fine. As long as it is drawn with your own hand, it works for me. :) Yay! :D

Aaargh, everything is conspiring against me here  Every time I go to upload it, this happens:
[link]
I think it must be DA, not the file, I tried re-saving the PSD and I tried uploading different jpegs and it's the same thing every time. :| Has been like this all week too. And next week, no internet!! (But printer!) This is too silly. Should I send you the finished painting? haven't got the photo yet of course, but you could then have at least something to upload! hehe.

oh no! I'm so sorry. I hate it when that crap happens. You can just send me the finished portrait if you'd like and I will try to upload it. Send it to Placidnite@aol.com Take the photo when you can. :) The sooner the better, but if it can't be done, it can't be done. Do it when it is possible. :)

I always thought that was funny. I imagined Golden to be a light palomino, but I always imagined Thowra to be white/grey/that slightly metallic dun colour - he was a SILVER brumby not a GOLD brumby! And if he was gold, he couldn't go missing in the snow!
WHY? Maybe they couldn't get any sufficiently trained horses that weren't palomino?

well, the TV show was animated (and in the TRAILER the cartoon horses were silver-white.) I mean, come on! Why make them yellow?
Golden I imagine to be slightly goldy at first but she gets paler as time goes by... that's all in my head though, lol.

Whee, you're working in greyscale again! I LOVE IT. Beautiful details and emotion here, I just adore their eyes... and of course they're silver brumbies, so that makes it even more awesome. You pwn, HH. :+fav:

Always wondered by Silver and Palomino were the same thing, considering Palomino is always described as "newly minted gold" :o This is a lovely "doodle"--nice atmosphere and control of monochromatic-ness. ^_^

Yeah, when I was little I thought that the Silver brumby should have been silver. I raged at the TV for days...I thought that it was the TV's fault...*I was a dumb child lol*

Beautiful!

It's off in a few places, but hey, its just a quick doodle and you don't always have to have everything perfect! Wish I had your talent! :P

I haven't mastered digital painting, would help if I had a tablet.. ah well, I'll just stick to the traditional stuff.

:D
